Secure Your Home for the Holidays

Secure Your Home for the Holidays

Make sure that your home is safe this holiday season with these home security tips.

You expect a certain sense of security from your home, and during the holiday season, you definitely need that security. A proper security system is your best bet at keeping your home safe for the holidays. While Keven McAllister did a good job protecting his home in Home Alone, we don’t advise freezing your staircase or planting toy cars in the middle of a dark hallway. Here are a few simple things you can do to secure your home for the holidays.

  1. Update your burglar alarm.

Inform your alarm company that you will be out of town and provide them with a phone number where you can be contacted (not your home phone number), and the phone number of anyone checking in on your home. If the alarm is tripped, the company can contact your friend and not the burglar inside of your home currently robbing you.

  1. Secure all doors and windows.

Make sure that all your doors and windows are locked, and repair any cracks that may weaken the integrity of that portal. Set the pin lock in your garage as well.

  1. Tell your neighbors you are leaving.

Tell your neighbors that you are leaving for the holidays and to check in on your house every once in a while to let burglars knows there is some activity.

  1. Inspect the motion detectors.

Before you leave, you want to be sure that your motion sensor actually works. That way, your neighbors can spot any unwelcomed guests and call the police.

Your home deserves to be a place where you and your family should feel comfortable and secure. Contact the security professionals at Cornwall Security Services, serving Ventura County and the surrounding Westlake areas, for more safety and security practices.
